The canopy is not far with its sounds of insects and colorful birds...

The traveller's tree, also called ravenale or ravinala in Malagasy, are tropical plants native to Madagascar and endemic, that is to say they only grow there. They were nevertheless introduced by settlers in the 19th century in various botanical gardens around the world, such as Singapore and Malaysia.

Its sap is abundant and drinkable and earned it its name of traveller's tree because anyone can quench their thirst easily with a blow of a machete.

Discovered by botanist Philibert Commersson in 1780, it is easily recognizable thanks to its large fan-shaped leaves that make it look like a palm tree.

The bulletin of the National Society of Acclimatization of France: review of applied natural sciences 1896 (Gallica, BNF) declares about it: "The water contained in the heart of the tree allows the traveler to be quenched. By piercing the heart of the tree, fresh water springs from it which is particularly thirst-quenching."

Hand-woven rugs and carpets are more delicate than machine-made rugs and carpets. Please carefully follow the care instructions below:
    - Regularly vacuuming your rug or carpet is important. Since the fibers are woven into a tight interlock, dirt, grit and debris tend to settle on the base of the mat. Be sure to use the vacuum attachment and not the beater brush, as this can damage the carpet pile and carpet fringe.
    - In case of spillage, do not use any cleaning product. Use a clean cloth and water to instantly dab up the spill. Sponge up as much of the liquid as possible before it settles on the rug or carpet.
     - Rugs and animals don't mix. Animal urine can damage rugs and carpets. You end up with problems like odor, fading dyes. Use a combination of warm water and vinegar to fix the problem.
    - Keep your carpet or rug out of direct sunlight and rotate it periodically to minimize wear.
    - Have your rugs professionally cleaned from time to time to maintain their delicate structure. Dry cleaning is the best option for handwoven rugs.

Josep Tapiró i Baró is a Spanish painter born in Reus, February 7, 1836 and died in Tangier on October 4, 1913. He studied drawing and painting with his childhood friend Mariano Fortuny in Barcelona under the direction of Domingo Soberano.
The two friends then completed their training at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando in Madrid. Thanks to many trips across Europe between 1863 and 1870, he consolidated his style, strongly influenced by his friend. They travel together to Morocco for the first time in 1871, and following this decisive event in the life of the two artists, Tapiró decides to settle in Tangier, in 1876, where he will remain, for almost forty years, until upon his death in 1913.

The Moors were members of the Muslim people of North Africa, of mixed Arab and Berber origin. In the 8th century they were converted to Islam and established power in North Africa, Sicily and Spain, where they established a civilization (756-1492).

    THE LEGEND :

During the Arab domination in Sicily, in the city of Palermo there was an Arab suburb called "La Kalsa".

In this small suburb lived a beautiful young woman who spent her time tending to the flowers on her balcony.

One day a young Moor was walking under the lady's balcony. He noticed the beauty of the young lady and he fell in love with her.

He did not wait a minute to declare his love and the beautiful young girl, impressed by the audacity of the lover, quickly experienced the same love.

Unfortunately, the young Moor was already married and had several children ... as soon as the young woman found out that he could leave to find his family, one day she waited for night and killed him while he slept soundly. She cut off his head and used it as a vase for her plants so she could have him forever by her side.

As the beauty of this vase was remarkable, the whole neighborhood wanted to own a similar one.

From this moment, the creation of vases in the shape of the heads of Moors began...
