Oregon wood, also known as Douglas pine wood, is native from North America on the west coast. It has been present in Europe since the 17th century. With rapid growth and little sapwood (peripheral part of the trunk which is not usable) Douglas is a wood which has good natural durability, it is widely used in construction, it is among the hardest softwoods.
