They are members of the Nymphalidae family. 12 magnificent bird-winged butterflies in a capsule globe.

The most common bird-winged butterfly - Ornithoptera Priamus - is actually not so common, because it is only found in a few small islands in the Pacific: Papua New Guinea, Southern Moluccas, Solomon Islands...

Only the males have these bright colors, the females are even larger, but brown in color.
